Public and festive lighting
Public lighting is intended to illuminate selected roads in the evening and at night according to relevant regulations.
Public lighting operators try to renovate old public lighting systems or build new ones with minimum power consumption and maximum efficiency. This can be achieved by using advanced lamps and light sources.
In addition to advanced lamps, ELTODO offers also a number of additional components, such as squared poles, switchboards, pole equipment, discharge sources and others for lighting refurbishment or new construction. We have been manufacturing luminairs and other components for more than 10 years and have gained precious experience in the field.
Savings in Public Outdoor Lighting
There are currently about one million public lighting spots installed on the territory of the Czech Republic.
A significant share of public lighting systems currently operated was built before 1990 and it exhibited a huge degree of energetic over dimension. Since 1994, measures are being taken in order to reduce total power consumption while new lighting spots are being added along with progressing construction.
ELTODO, which participates in refurbishment and construction of new public lighting systems, endeavours to increase the number of lighting spots equipped with advanced elements. Having been pursuing this objective, ELTODO applies a set of technical, economical and operational measures that would lead towards reduction of installed capacity of the existing street lighting while meeting applicable standards.
Savings in public lighting are achieved by means of:
- Employment of quality light sources
- Replacing light sources with new ones with higher efficiency and quality ballasts
- Introducing cluster replacement of light sources
- Dimensioning of lighting according to actual road classification
- Light dimming
- Limiting daytime lighting by night maintenance
- Optimization of maintenance cars routing
- Consistent signing and logging of all public lighting maintenance works in electronic format
Occasional or also decorative lighting can be constant or changing in time – dynamic, program-controlled, employing effects of brightness, light colour and so on.
Demand of cities on occasional lighting, and mainly for Christmas illumination of squares and streets, is growing every year.
