I joined ELTODO a.s. as a system engineer in July 2013, recommended by a friend who was already working here. Originally, I didn’t apply for any specific position; I just decided to send my resume to HR. The HR department gave me options to choose where I could fit within the company, and after two rounds of interviews, I became part of the Technical Development department. My responsibilities included software application development—both programming and software analysis. One of my first tasks was to design a system for parking management and selection. I was fortunate to collaborate with experienced colleagues who had years of practical experience in operating and selling these systems. I must say, it’s rewarding to travel somewhere now and see our system in use and hear people praise it.

In 2014, I transferred within the company to a newly established department focused purely on software and hardware development, where I could further develop my skills in software analysis.

The following year, I was assigned a new challenge: leading the Technical Development department. This department handles the development of new products and technologies for the entire ELTODO Group, especially in transportation, lighting, ICT, energy, telecommunications, industrial automation, camera systems, and many other areas. It’s rewarding work but certainly not easy. Every day brings new challenges, opportunities, ideas, and obstacles that we need to tackle as best as possible, pushing us forward. In development, one rule applies: what was true yesterday may not be true today, and our job is to prepare as best as possible for tomorrow.

The best part of my job is the opportunity to meet many smart, capable, and inspiring people—both colleagues and researchers from institutions we collaborate with on grant projects. I appreciate being part of a team that constantly challenges me to think and learn.

For working at ELTODO a.s., the most important qualities are not being afraid to work hard, using common sense, and striving to create things that bring value and benefit not only to ourselves but to others as well.

1. What did you have to achieve to obtain your current position?
During my university studies, I started working part-time there and after graduation, I took a full-time position as a student records clerk. I was in daily personal contact with students and faculty, managing their administrative processes from admissions to final state exams. I worked with internal information systems and handled sensitive personal data. I actively dealt with internal regulations, which were continuously evolving and being updated. I also participated in organizing and presenting school projects, so I am comfortable working both in a team and independently handling assigned tasks. I am convinced that these experiences and skills were key to meeting the criteria for the position of Administrative Clerk at Eltodo a.s.

2. How did your supervisor and team support you during onboarding?
My supervisor and the entire team showed great patience and trained me as much as possible. The IT field is indeed very specific. I am very grateful for their help and willingness. I was lucky that the colleague whose position I took is still part of Eltodo, and I can ask her for advice and assistance, as there are many things that come up on the job and are very specific. I truly appreciate her help.

3. What does a typical workday look like for you?
I try to get to work around 7:30, but it mostly depends on traffic. During the day, I process orders, invoices, work with internal systems, communicate with suppliers, carriers, and so on. I handle administrative and consumable matters important for the department’s operation and do my best to keep everything running smoothly.

4. What do you consider your biggest achievement in the company so far?
I’m most proud that I can now independently process and solve many tasks.

5. How do you like the working environment? What would you improve or change?
The building isn’t completely barrier-free, but this was very elegantly solved, for which I am very thankful, and the office is also adapted to my personal and physical needs. The most important thing is the atmosphere at work, and that is excellent.

6. Do you see opportunities for your career growth within the company?
You can always grow and improve, so yes, there are definitely opportunities at Eltodo.
